UK Agriculture four seasons
Month - July

July
It might be summer but there is plenty going on indoors! Pateurisation, bottling and processing of milk all in a perfectly clean environment.

July
Beef cattle are ideal for grazing the coarse grass growth of summer. Livestock are vital for the maintenance of some of the UK's most fragile grassland ecosystems.
July
Inquisitive young piglets. Pigs suffer from heat stress and so require plenty of fresh air, shade and water.

July
Ewes and lambs sheltering from hot summer sun.

July
The ears of winter wheat. Grains, once ground provide us with flour for bread and biscuits.

July
Spring barley is now maturing and the characteristic awns (spikes) from the ear glisten in evening light.
July
Harvesting oats. After winter barley, winter oats are the next cereal to be cut.

July
The rows in the potato crop have disappeared and tuber growth is rapid.

July
The pods of oil seed rape now ready for harvest. Oil seed rape provides us with vegetable oil and is widely used in processed foods.

July
Sunflowers are an alternative crop that are becoming more suitable for the UK as the climate becomes warmer.

July
Courgettes prepared and packed for sale. UK vegetable production is now in full swing.

July
By July local fruit is coming into season - black currants are illustrated here.
